What to bring to the Lost City?
This is one of the most frequently asked questions about Ciudad Perdida. Below, we share with you our recommendations on what to bring to Ciudad Perdida:
.
Take a bottle of water
Carry a water bottle of at least 1.5 liters, this will be useful for the initial hike from Machete to Camp 1. This thermos can be recharged at the drinking water supplies at the campsites.
.
Lightweight backpack
The hikes are long and demanding, carry only what is necessary to avoid the weight hindering your pace.
.
Comfortable clothing
Wear comfortable and quick-drying clothes. We also recommend that you bring long pants and sweatshirts for the evenings, as these are usually cooler.
.
Appropriate shoes
The best option is specialized boots for mountain trails or “trekking boots”. In case you do not have them, it is best to wear a good pair of tennis shoes that do not have flat soles, as you could slip and hurt yourself.
.
Swimming suit
We will pass by waterfalls where you can bathe. During the rainy season, the guide may not authorize bathing to avoid putting your safety at risk. However, it is better to go to the Lost City prepared.
.
.
Sunscreen and insect repellent
Ideally, these should be environmentally friendly. We will be in contact with nature, so we must preserve it and avoid the negative impact that traditional chemical products may leave in these environments.
.
Personal hygiene kit
Bring your towel, soap, shampoo, deodorant and any other toiletries that you consider necessary or that you use regularly.
.
Flashlight
The camps have power generators; however, there is a schedule for turning off the lights. In case you want to go to the bathroom you will need a light so you don’t trip on the way.
.
Camera
If you don’t have a camera, you can use your cell phone camera. There are some campsites that have electrical outlets so you can charge your devices.
.
Books or small board games
In the evenings, after dinner, you will have free time. You can relax and read your favorite book or take advantage of the time to get to know other travelers.
.
Extra money
In the camps you will be able to buy snacks, beer, water, ice cold soda, among other products.
