The authorities of Teyuna National Park, in close collaboration with local indigenous communities, have made the decision to close the park’s doors throughout the upcoming month.
This decision is based on the rich culture and deep-rooted traditions of the indigenous communities, who reserve this time of year for their ancestral gatherings and rituals.
Is Tayrona Park also closed?
As previously mentioned, Tayrona Natural Park also closes its doors twice a year.
This year it was closed from January 1st to 15th and from June 1st to 15th
And it will close again from October 19th to November 2nd.
During this period, the area seeks the rest for its representative ecosystems, social integration, and understanding of the environmental and cultural processes that take place during this time,
The aim is promoting actions such as wildlife and flora monitoring and research, visitor safety strategies, management, prevention, and control of the protected area.
What can I do if I had a tour scheduled for the closing date of Lost City?
Initially, Expotur and all authorized agencies had established an agreement with the indigenous communities for a 15-day closure.
However, due to deep respect for their culture and their focus on sustainability and the balance of this tourist attraction, the decision has been made to extend the closure to a full month.
We fully understand the frustration and disappointment that this situation can generate for each of you.
We have been in continuous conversations with the authorities and indigenous communities in an effort to find an alternative solution to minimize the impact on your travel plans.
Unfortunately, after all our efforts and negotiations, we haven’t been able to reach an agreement that would allow us to offer you the tour for the date you booked.
We recognize that you had built expectations around this unique and significant expedition.
We want you to know that we are here to provide the necessary support amidst this process of adaptation.

It’s important to highlight that from August 30th to September 28th, we won’t have available slots for tours to Lost City due to the unavoidable park closure.
