Santa Marta – El Mamey – Camp 1
Your Lost City Tour Colombia begins at 9:00 a.m. in Santa Marta, where we meet at the main office for a quick orientation before heading out to the wonderful trek. A 2.5-hour drive in a 4×4 vehicle takes us along wonderful mountain roads to El Mamey, the official starting point of the trek where everything starts.
After enjoying a traditional Colombian lunch in the village, we begin the hike around 4 hours (6.8 km), mostly uphill. As you walk through green trails surrounded by tropical vegetation, the sounds of nature welcome you to the Sierra Nevada of Santa Marta. After keep walking for long time, we reach Camp 1, where we enjoy dinner and rest in hammocks or beds in preparation for the days ahead.
Camp 1 – Indigenous Village – Camp 3
A good breakfast to wake up and get ready for one of the most dynamic days of the Lost City Tour Colombia. This stretch covers approximately 14.7 kilometers and takes about 7 hours, following the winding Buritaca River.
We pass by a traditional Kogui village—an indigenous community descended from the ancient Tayrona people. Here, the guide shares cultural insights that deepen the experience and highlight the spiritual significance of the region. In the afternoon, we arrive at Camp 3, a remote resting place deep within the jungle where we eat, wash, and unwind after the day’s trek.
Camp 3 – Lost City – Camp 2
Day three is the most emotional and spiritual peak of the Lost City Tour Colombia. After breakfast we will walk 1 km until reach the first step, we begin the ascent up 1,200 ancient stone steps built by the Tayronas Indigenous. As we climb, the jungle slowly reveals the Lost City known as Teyuna, an archaeological site older than Machu Picchu.
We’ll spend around 3 hours approximately exploring this mystical place, learning about its history, its energy, and the indigenous people who still protect it. Afterward, we return to Camp 3 for lunch and continue the hike to Camp 2 (6 km, approximately 4 hours), where we’ll rest for the night surrounded by the sounds of the forest and sharing time.
Camp 2 – Waterfalls – Jungle Farm Stay
On our fourth day, we ease into the trail with a 5-hour, 8-kilometer walk that includes a detour to three hidden waterfalls: Cascada de Pablo, Cascada del Abanico, and Cascada de la Negra. These refreshing pools are perfect for a swim and a quiet moment to connect with nature.
After enjoy the waterfalls, we continue on a mostly flat path to a rustic jungle farm, where we’ll enjoy dinner and a peaceful night acompanny by histories. This day adds a slower, more reflective rhythm to the Lost City Tour Colombia, letting you rest and recharge energy to the next day.
Farm Stay – El Mamey – Santa Marta
Our final day begins with breakfast to the soundtrack of nearby waterfalls. We hike for around 4 hours (6 km) along the path with crystal-clear river crossings and shaded jungle trails enjoying our last day in the Sierra nevada of Santa Marta.
Eventually, we arrive back in El Mamey, where the journey began. After one last group lunch, we return to Santa Marta, closing this unforgettable chapter of the Lost City Tour Colombia, a trek that blends adventure, culture, and personal growth.
