The Cabo de la Vela tour begins at 8:30 a.m. from Riohacha, where we start our journey toward the northernmost point of the Upper Guajira. Along the way, we travel through colorful and arid landscapes that are characteristic of this unique region. The first stop of the Cabo de la Vela tour is Manaure, home to the largest salt complex in Colombia. Here, you will learn about the traditional salt extraction process, an essential activity for the Wayuu communities that live in the area.

We then continue the Cabo de la Vela tour toward Uribia, known as the Indigenous capital of Colombia. It is the perfect place to better understand Wayuu culture and life in the desert. After this short stop, we continue our route toward our main destination: Cabo de la Vela.

Upon arriving at the Cabo around midday, we enjoy a traditional lunch before beginning the first activities of the Cabo de la Vela tour. In the afternoon, we visit Playa Dorada, an ideal place to experience the blend of desert and sea that defines this destination. We then walk to the Faro, an iconic viewpoint from which we can admire one of the most beautiful sunsets in La Guajira—an unforgettable highlight of the Cabo de la Vela tour.

We end the day by arriving at our traditional Wayuu lodging, where we will have dinner and rest in hammocks or beds—depending on the selected plan—immersing ourselves in the cultural experience that makes the Cabo de la Vela tour so special.

The second day of the Cabo de la Vela tour begins early with a traditional breakfast to gain energy before visiting one of the most iconic spots of the trip: Pilón de Azúcar. From the beach, you can hike up a small hill that offers a panoramic view of the desert and the Caribbean Sea—one of the most memorable postcards of the Cabo de la Vela tour.

During the morning, we will also visit Playa Ojo de Agua, Playa Arcoíris, and the surrounding areas of the Pilón, where you can appreciate the strength of the wind, the contrast of colors in the landscape, and the deep tranquility that defines this region. These places are an essential part of the Cabo de la Vela tour, helping you understand why so many travelers consider this destination one of the most fascinating in all of La Guajira.

After returning to the lodging, we enjoy lunch before starting the journey back to Riohacha. With this final stretch, the Cabo de la Vela tour comes to an end—a trip that combines culture, nature, and Wayuu tradition in each of its stops.

The Cabo de la Vela tour is perfect for travelers who want to discover the essence of the desert, feel the power of the Guajira winds, walk along unique beaches, and connect with an ancestral culture that remains alive in every community. From Manaure to Pilón de Azúcar, every moment of the Cabo de la Vela tour leaves a lasting impression on those who experience it.
