EXCELLENT Based on 6168 reviews Posted on Sébastien LVerified do it fun, good group, hard but rewarding, Sara / Everett / Jose were good leaders, will recommend , we had a hard weather conditions but they made it workPosted on Issie MVerified 4 day lost city trek review Loved this hike. We were lucky in getting a fantastic group and having a fabulous time (despite the relentless rain that came from Mexico!) We saw some mixed reviews of this hike. Yes it is expensive but it's worth it if you can afford it! The first day involves walking mostly on a gravel road with some motorbikes coming past, which is annoying but once you get into the jungle, the track is a lot nicer! We enjoyed the food made by Jesus and they seemed to cater well for any dietary requirements! Our guide Jorge was lovely and attentive, helping people struggling in the mud and slippery parts and showing us the better routes. Our translator Danilo was engaging and loved to have a laugh. And he was the most fashionable hiker out there. The only real negatives were that we got picked up early morning from Santa Marta town and then proceeded to wait in the office for an hour without knowing what was going on. In hindsight it would have been nicer to have the option to make our own way there and meet at a later time. The other was that we weren't told of the option to end/start the hike somewhere other than Santa Marta including when we checked in the day before. So that would have been nice to know.Posted on Emile SVerified Highlight of Colombia! We started the trek on the 29th of January. We were with a group of 15 amazing people, guided by 3 even more amazing guides. The ever smiling lead guide Tatjana was fluent in English which resulted in deeper insights and understanding of the indigenous society’s for me as non Spanish speaker. Tatjana was supported by Heider and Joan. Both amazing people who enjoyed their job. Their enthusiasm was absolutely infectious! While the guides showed how to enjoy the jungle they always kept an eye on potential dangerous situations and where fast in anticipation on it, by which I felt very safe in their hands. Because the where three guides, everyone could walk on safely on their own pace and there were opportunities to swim in lovely waterfalls. The camps are well organised and Luz made us delicious meals. Overall it resulted in a very professional standard and I would recommend the experience to my friends! 100% sure that this was my highlight of Colombia! Thanks again to the group, Tatjana, Joan, Heider & Luz!Posted on MorganVerified Book this tour We absolutely loved this tour. Our guide Sara, translator Herbert, José and our cook Joel were really excellent! They speak really good English and their knowlegde of the history of the lost city is perfect. They are really caring and funny. The camps are really clean. You receive three big meals per day, which are all fresh made (fish, meat, …). With every stop you receive fresh fruit (pineapple, watermelon,…) and a sweet snack. We have no further recommendations ;)Posted on Camilla RVerified Thank you Expotur! Jhoan, our principle guide, Wilfredy the cook, Sol and Heberth were all excellent. Thank you very much for sharing your story Jhoan, and to all of the local community for allowing us in to visit your cherished and beautiful home.Posted on LeonnetjeVerified Magical Lost City Experience! Our trek with Expotur and our group "The Roadrunners" was truly unforgettable! Guide Titiana brought knowledge, enthusiasm, and humor, while assistants Johan and Heider supported us with care. A special thanks to Heider, who helped me safely descend the 1,200 steps. Thanks to chef Luz, we enjoyed delicious and nourishing meals that kept us going strong. The whole team went above and beyond, professional, warm, and dedicated, making this journey a truly magical experience!Posted on Ealing GlobetrotterVerified Totally amazing experience! Wow - what an absolutely incredible experience on the Lost City Trek with Expotur.First, a huge thank you to our amazing trek team: our guide Jhoan, translator Isidro, chef Emiro, and assistant Luis Felipe (“Pipe”). They truly made the experience. Jhoan’s knowledge of the region’s history - from indigenous communities to more recent farming and guerrilla periods - was fascinating. Isidro was hilarious and spoke better English than most English people. Pipe always worked with a smile. And Emiro somehow produced three delicious hot meals a day like magic. We were impressed with Expotur from the very start. Communication before the tour was clear and easy, and everything felt extremely well organised. They kindly picked us up from Minca at 7am, saving us an extra trip to Santa Marta. At the office, the team efficiently helped us store extra luggage and even arranged for our bags to be delivered to our next stop in Tayrona - we were dropped right at our hostel after the trek, which was such a helpful touch. The trek itself has been the highlight of our time in Colombia. It’s definitely challenging (especially days 2 and 3), but so rewarding. The scenery is incredibly varied - ridge-top views, dense jungle, river crossings - and swimming in waterfalls each day was the perfect refresh. Finally, shoutout to our wonderful group - hope we all stay in touch! If in doubt - do it! And if you can, request Jhoan, Isidro, Pipe, and Emiro - you’ll be in the best hands.Posted on NiluVerified A highlight of Colombia! This was a fantastic experience! Thank you Jose, Pilar, Emiro and Shirley for their knowledge, enthusiasm and professionalism. The hike was the perfect level of challenging across the 4 days and 15 in our group was a good number. The beds (bunk beds with mattresses) and meals (homemade and tasty for all 3 meals) surpassed my expectations. We were also supplied with snacks including delicious fruit along the way! I could not recommend this more, whether as a group/ a couple/ or solo like me. Value for money in my opinion. Posted on caricia kVerified A great experience. I had a great experience with my group Monos Pekuecosos with Iderle as guide, Carlos as the translater, Alberto as the cook and Esleider as assistence. Iderle told is a lot about the hidden city and the planning of the tour. She also helped me and my husband when he got injured. We couldn’t haven done it without her help. Carlos did a good job. Albeiro was an excellent cook we eat very well! And Esleider helped Joost when he was injected! Thank you again! We also had a nice group which is important to get us through. Although I was a bit hard for me all that climbing and descending it was really nice to do and see all the beautiful nature. I am proud of myself I did it!
