In the worldview of the indigenous people of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, Colombia; it is worth highlighting the deep harmonious connection between human being and nature, especially with the earth. Temporary closure of Lost City

By decision of the Council of Traditional Authorities of the Sierra Nevada of Santa Marta; KUTSHABITABOYA SA TUXE “KUALDINTANA”; the Colombian Institute of Anthropology and History ICANH, that has among its functions to watch over the conservation and maintenance of archaeological parks in Colombia, conserving them as depositary sites of cultural interest; decrees the TEMPORARY CLOSURE, between August 30th and September 29th, 2017, of the “Teyuna” Archaeological Park, known as “Ciudad Perdida”, ” Buritaca 200 “or” Lost City “(among the English-speaking community).

During the closure of the Park, only ICANH officials; military and police authorities; and members of the indigenous communities Kogis, Arsarios, Ijkas (Arhuacos) and Kankuamos and their political-spiritual authorities; will be able to access it.

The Park will be closed to allow the traditional authorities preceded by the “Mamos”, to carry out the spiritual sanitation (offering) of the Archaeological Park according to their knowledge and cultural procedures.

All tour operators in Santa Marta should refrain from including in their tourist offers the entrance to the Teyuna Archaeological Park (Lost City) between August 30th and September 29th of the current year.

The Teyuna Archaeological Park (Lost City) will open again to the public on September 30th, 2017.
