LOST CITY TREKKING COLOMBIA 4 DAYS AND 3 NIGHTS
The adventure to Lost City Trekking Colombia begins in Santa Marta. At 9:00 a.m., we gather at the main Expotur office, where your guide and team will welcome you, provide some orientations, and answer some questions before the expedition begins.
From there, a 4×4 vehicle takes us on a scenic 2.5-hour ride through Main roads La troncal del Caribe to the small village of El Mamey, the official starting and ending point of the trek. Upon arrival, we enjoy a traditional lunch to fuel up for the journey ahead.
First journey, 4 hours | 10 km
After lunch, we will start the first trek of the Lost City Trekking Colombia experience. The afternoon hike covers approximately 10 kilometers over four hours. The trail is open, with limited shade and steady inclines a little bit, so it’s important to stay hydrated and protect your skin with sunscreen and a cap if travelers decide to use.
As we ascend through the rugged terrain, you’ll start to feel the magic of the Sierra Nevada of Santa Marta . We reach Adán Camp in the late afternoon around 4.30 P.M. , where we settle in for the night. If weather allows, we can enjoy a refreshing dip in a nearby natural pool before dinner and rest, but we can share time together.
CAMP 1 – CAMP 3 (EXPOTUR camp)
On the second day starts early, as we wake up at 5:00 a.m. to a breathtaking sunrise over the mountains. After a breakfast, we continue our journey with two hiking segments totaling 18 kilometers. The first segment of the day takes us 9 kilometers through the jungle.
Along this trail, we pass through thick jungle and visit the indigenous village called MUTANZHI. Our guide will share stories about the customs, traditions, and way of life of this ancient community lived in armony along the time. We then keep walking to Mumake Camp, where a well-earned lunch awaits us.
Second journey, 4 hours | 9 km
After breakfast we will start walking for about 4 hours/ 9KM through the Buritica river valley, we will stop at an indigenous settlement called MUTANYI where the guide will tell us about this amazing community, and we will continue walking until we arrive to MUMAKE camp, place where we will have lunch, this trek will be mostly uphill and few downhills.
Third journey, 4 hours / 9 km
In the afternoon, we embark on the second segment of the day, keep walking to another 9 kilometers through jungle trails, crossing rivers and hanging bridges. The sounds of the mother earth accompany us as we make our way to reach Paso Lorenzo Camp.
Where we’ll have dinner and spend our second night together. Close to the Buritaca River and surrounded by lush greenery, this is one of the closest camps to the Lost City and offers a truly immersive jungle experience in the Sierra Nevada of Santa Marta
CAMP 3 (EXPOTUR camp) – LOST CITY TREKKING COLOMBIA – CAMP 2
Day three is the highlight of the Lost City Trekking Colombia tour. After breakfast and a peaceful sunrise, we begin our journey to the site of Lost City . We recommend leaving your main backpack at camp and taking only what’s essential for you.
The morning trek is a 4-kilometer route alongside the river, bordering mountains. We then begin the 1,200 stone steps built centuries ago by the Tayrona people Indigenous. As we climb, the forest slowly reveals the terraces and stone structures of the Lost City trekking Colombia.
We spend around three hours exploring this beautiful indigenous area. The guide will explain its historical importance, the connection to the indigenous communities who protect it today, and the energy that flows through this sacred site, making this more than a destination.
Fourth journey | 4 km
After exploring the magic of the Lost City Trekking Colombia, we descend the same 1 kilometer back to Paso Lorenzo, where we enjoy lunch and take our belongings, then we walk back to a final afternoon trek of 10 kilometers over three hours, taking us back to Mumake Camp. where we enjoy dinner and our third night of rest under the stars and the jungle.
CAMP 2 – EL MAMEY (Final point)
The fourth and final day of Lost City Trekking Colombia starts with a sunrise and an early breakfast. We cover 18 kilometers on our return journey, split into two path. The first is a 10-kilometer hike through the deep jungle back to Adán Camp, where we’ll take a break with a light snack and enjoy the tranquil surroundings one last time.
Fifth journey
From there, we will walk the last 8 kilometers remaining, This trail leads us through open terrain with little shade, so it’s important to stay hydrated and keep a steady pace.
Finally, we arrive back at El Mamey, where the trek began. A final lunch will be waiting for us to celebrate our achievement, from there, we take our transport back to Santa Marta.
Depending on weather and trail conditions, we expect to return between 3:00 and 6:00 p.m. to the Main Office in Santa Marta
